16K without the melt-down
When a frame is bigger than your graphics card can hold, the player splits it into GPU tiles and stitches them in the shader. If video memory runs out, it recovers and keeps playing at a safe resolution instead of crashing.
Open source · v1.2.0 · macOS & Windows
Built for people who shoot the whole world at once. Drop in footage from your GoPro MAX, Insta360 or VR rig and watch it the way it was captured: in 360°, in 3D, in full resolution.
Free forever · Free licence key · No tracking
01 · The player
Most players squeeze 360° video onto a sphere mesh and hope for the best. Executable 360 casts a ray for every pixel on your screen, straight into the source frame. The result: no seams, no warping at the poles, and the same exact image in every projection.
When a frame is bigger than your graphics card can hold, the player splits it into GPU tiles and stitches them in the shader. If video memory runs out, it recovers and keeps playing at a safe resolution instead of crashing.
It reads Spherical Video V1/V2 and Matroska metadata, then filename tags and aspect ratio, to pick the projection and 3D layout for you. You can always override it.
Top/bottom and side-by-side VR video, with a left/right eye switch and eye swap for footage that was mastered backwards.
Drag with inertia, zoom from 20° to 120°, or flip to little planet and fisheye views. Plus WASD and arrow-key look, frame stepping and speed from 0.25× to 2×.
Loop is on by default. Drop a folder of clips to make a playlist, go full screen, and walk away. Great for booths, showrooms and dome projections.
No uploads, no analytics, no ads. Your footage never leaves your machine, which your NDA-bound client footage will appreciate. The only thing the app sends is a licence check.
Save the current view as a PNG, in whatever projection you're looking through. That's a thumbnail, a little-planet poster or a social crop in one keystroke.
02 · Formats
Every major way of storing a spherical frame, in mono or stereo 3D, up to 16K, in H.264, HEVC, AV1, VP9 or ProRes-friendly MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM containers.
03 · The converter
Turn an equirectangular master into a cube map for Unity, Unreal or three.js. Pull an EAC or skybox back into a 360° sphere for YouTube. Or crop a full sphere down to VR180. The converter runs on your machine, keeps your audio, and tags sphere outputs with 360° metadata so YouTube and headsets recognise them straight away.
04 · Who it's for
Review GoPro MAX and Insta360 exports at full resolution before you upload. Check the stitch line, the horizon and your little-planet shot, then export an EAC or equirect master.
Preview skyboxes and cube-map video exactly as your engine will sample them. Convert to 6×1 strips or crosses without writing an ffmpeg filter graph at 2 a.m.
Loop 3D 360° content on a showroom PC, check both eyes, grab stills for the deck, and keep everything offline and on-prem.
The whole thing is readable: an Electron shell, a single WebGL2 shader and ffmpeg. Fork it, add a projection, send a PR.
Works with stitched MP4/MOV exports from GoPro Player, Insta360 Studio and similar tools, and with raw dual-fisheye MP4s. Native multi-stream .360 and .insv files are on the roadmap. Yes. The player and converter are free and open source, with no ads, no watermark and no tracking. You only need a free licence key: sign in with your e-mail and generate one. Pro editing tools are optional.
Sign in with your e-mail. We send a 6-digit code, no password needed. Then click Generate key. Each key works on one device and belongs to one e-mail. Your account can hold up to 3 keys. The app checks its key when installed and every time it starts. If you're offline, it keeps working for 7 days.
Pro adds trim, merge, dual-fisheye stitching, reframing 360° to flat 16:9/9:16/1:1 with keyframed camera moves, horizon levelling, colour, speed, nadir patch, audio tools, export presets and a batch queue. It's US$9.99/month, or ₹990/month in India, billed securely by Razorpay. Cancel any time in your account and keep Pro until the end of the paid month. See the refund policy.
Yes. Frames larger than your GPU's texture limit are split into tiles, so 16384×8192 renders correctly. Smooth 16K playback depends on your computer: most hardware decoders stop at 8K, so 16K usually needs AV1 and a fast CPU. 8K plays smoothly on most modern machines.
Yes, with exported MP4 files. Export your stitched 360° video from GoPro Player or Insta360 Studio and open it. Raw dual-fisheye MP4s are supported too. Native .360 and .insv camera files, which hold two video streams, are on the roadmap.
Press Ctrl/Cmd+E to open the converter, choose your video, and click Sphere → Cube 3×2 (or EAC, 6×1, 1×6, cross). Then press Convert. The reverse, cube map to equirectangular, works the same way. Pick your codec, resolution and quality, or leave it on Auto.
macOS 13 Ventura or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, and Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). A Linux build is on the roadmap.
Early builds aren't notarised or signed with a paid certificate yet. Verify the SHA-256 checksum, then on macOS use System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway, or on Windows use More info › Run anyway.
